Throughout my career, I’ve been at the intersection of sports technology, product innovation, operational leadership, and strategic growth. I co-founded and scaled a company that used computer vision to automate sports production, leading engineering, operations and product teams, expanding it into a global company. During that period, while working with major sports leagues, I was also deeply involved with implementing solutions for live streaming with top-tier broadcasters.
More recently at ShotQuality, I lead a global team of 100 across Engineering CV/AI, Devops, Operations and Logging. We perform unique data extraction with CV/AI & LLMs for basketball, football, baseball and tennis.
Anthony Cioppa is an Assistant Professor at the University of Liège (ULiège) in Belgium. He earned his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 2017 and later completed his PhD in 2020 in computer vision and artificial intelligence at ULiège, supported by the FNRS. Following his PhD, he was awarded a three-year postdoctoral grant by the FNRS, during which he spent a year in 2023 as a visiting postdoctoral researcher at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), working under the supervision of Prof. Marc Van Droogenbroeck and Prof. Bernard Ghanem. His research focuses on computer vision, video analysis using AI, real-time processing, and video understanding. He is also actively involved in organizing international AI challenges. Finally, he also co-organizes the yearly CVsports workshop at the CVPR conference.
Silvio Giancola is a research scientist at KAUST, specializing in artificial intelligence and computer vision for sports. His work spans video and 3D understanding, combining foundational deep learning research with real-world applications in sports. He has published over 50 papers in top-tier venues and leads the SoccerNet project, a benchmark for soccer broadcast analysis. Silvio also organizes conference workshops, serves in editorial roles for major journals, and collaborates with industry partners on AI tools for medical, refereeing, broadcasting and analytics applications in sports.
